First Corporate Member
First Corporate Member
A land mark day for Shaftesbury Rotary when we welcomed our first Corporate Member, Alan Mulholland, Director of Stalbridge Linen Services, a locally based company employing several hundred staff.
Other Activities
Kids Day Out
This annual event is the highlight of Yewstock School, an educational and caring centre for disabled and educationally challenged children who enjoy a visit to Longleat Safari Park, the house gardens and entertainment. The whole day includes transport and food and is sponsored by the Shaftesbury, Gillingham and Sturminster Rotary Clubs.
Obituary
A sad day for the family and club with the funeral John Enderby. John was a dedicated Rotarian and instrumental in introducing the Hope & Homes for Children charity to the Club which then was adopted by Rotary at a national level. John was also a past Director of Voluntary Services Overseas (VSOS) to which the Club has sponsored applicants. Our condolences to Barbara and family.
Glow Worm Picnic
The planned picnic on Melbury Down was cancelled due to inclement weather, so Rotarians and wives/partners gathered at the Mitre Inn Shaftesbury to drown their sorrows.
Presidential Handover
On the 30th June President David Wynn-McKenzie handed over the badge of office to Mike Farrow for his presidential year 1st July 2014 – 20th June 2015; the evening was attended by wives/partners.
Two speakers in one month is not the norm for the Club but we were fortunate enough to listen to Bob Farrand (pictured), the C.E.O of The Guild of Fine Food based at Kingsmead Business Park in Gillingham. Bob spoke with passion about his apprenticeship in Shaftesbury some 50 years ago when he learn the skill of tasting good food (mainly cheese and hams!)
