6th – Virtual Business Meeting
We had our first Zoom meeting for the whole of Shaftesbury Rotary. Congratulations to those members who were brave enough to try something so different. The meeting generally went well. We agreed that as our income is now almost non-existent, following the cancellation of our fundraising events, that we would prioritise our donations towards causes that were local and Covid related.

13th – Bank Holiday, no Meeting
20th – Virtual AGM Meeting
We met again on Zoom for our AGM and a business meeting. We have all been on a steep learning curve with this new type of meeting, but all went quite well. The majority of our members logged on and we were able to deal with the required business, about as efficiently as we would have face to face.
Under general business we had to consider the fact that we will be losing our next few fund raising events and so while we have reserves we will have to spend them with care. We have however been able to signpost a number of organisations towards the Dorset Community Fund which has government funding and is designed to support Covid related need.
We hope when we next meet to have a speaker joining us again by Zoom.
27th – Meeting Cancelled
Obituaries
It is with great sadness to report on the passing of Leo Williams at the beginning of the month followed by his wife Priscilla at the end of the month. Whilst Leo was not a Rotarian, his approach to life was classic Rotary “service above self”. A borough councillor, stalwart of the Shaftesbury Carnival committee, Chair of the William Williams Charity along with so many other contributions to the town and always supported by Priscilla. Leo was a member of the Shaftesbury based William bros family builders and when they closed Leo bought and managed with his son, Perry and Son builders at Fontmell Magna which belonged to Denzil Perry, a long serving Shaftesbury Rotarian. The clubs condolences go out to the family.
